English 7Y

Proud essay

I am proud of many things. What I am most proud of is the fact that I am English. For me this stands for patriotism, family, friends, memories, and a soft spot in my heart that goes deep inside me. I will carry this one fact with me for ever. It defines me. It makes me feel like I am part of something huge. An empire ever expanding, diminishing, refining, and changing. An ever lasting legacy made up of millions of tiny fragments. The Nation anthem, royal family, family, friends, and food are in my opinion are the best of the best.

The national anthem is pleasurably simple. The first and second verses are the only ones that regularly sung. The first verse goes like this: God save our gracious Queen, long live our noble Queen, God save the Queen, Send her victorious, happy and glorious, long to reign over us, and to finish it off God save the Queen. Another song that is sung regularly is "Swing Low Sweet Chariot". That is normally sung when England is winning a rugby match.

England has a different style of government to Americas government. It has a Royal

Family that is essentially a figure head and represents the people, and a Prime Minister that leads the government. The Prime Minister is the person actually leading the country. The monarchy creates a sense of continuity. The queen has a big speech over christmas. The throne is passed down by blood. It doesn't matter if you are a boy or a girl. The oldest child is the next monarch. I personally believe that that is the best government.

I think that England has the best sweets, chocolates, and cereals ever. There are many big brands like Cadbury that originate from Britain. Some of my favorite british sweets are crunchies, flakes, smarties, Milky bars, and Curlywurlys. The cereals are also delicious. My personal favorites are English Cheerios, Sugar Puffs, and Shreddies. Crunchies and Sugar Puffs are my favorite ones. Crunchies are an oblong bar of orange crunchy honeycomb covered in milk chocolate. Sugar puffs are sugary puffed wheat. When ever I go to England I always make sure to stock up on my years worth of snacks because I love all of it.

There are so many things about England that I love. With our national Anthem to bring Englishmen and women together, our royal family representing us, and our tasty sweets to keep us going we have everything we need. England is just a little country that has done big things.
